William D. Larson Scholarship

Application Instructions

Department of Chemistry, University of St. Thomas

The William D. Larson scholarships are provided by an endowment initiated by Dr. William Larson, a former faculty member in the Chemistry department for many years.  The scholarships are awarded to students who show exceptional achievement in the field of chemistry, and who intend to pursue careers in chemistry, related fields, or medicine.

The department of chemistry invites chemistry and biochemistry majors to apply for Larson Scholarships.  While upperclass students are usually the recipients of these scholarships, all students in these two major fields are eligible to apply.  The Larson Scholarship application may be obtained from Dr. Boyd, Dr. Ovechka, or may be downloaded from the departmentŐs website: Application Form (it will be downloaded in the form of a Microsoft Word document).

Please observe the following guidelines when applying for the Larson Scholarship:

  1. Applications must be typed using12-point Times font.  The only exception to this is in listing classes yet to be taken at St. Thomas as requested on page 1.  You may use a smaller font if necessary so that course names and numbers fit into the boxes provided.
  2. Each page of the application is numbered.  The questions to be answered on each page of the application are specified at the top of the page.  Each question must be answered succinctly using only the space provided in the boxes on the application form.
  3. An unofficial transcript must be attached to the application.
  4. The application deadline is 4:00 P.M. on Friday March 17, 2006.
  5. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Questions about the application should be directed to Dr. Boyd.
